Region: CEE, Nordics
Project brief:
HOOK
New, untold stories from the most studied war of all time with a conviction that it was engineers and factory workers that were most responsible for the Allies’ victory.
WHO are we targeting?
Male skewed. They love war, history and engineering programming. This is a long awaited returning series and our audience will be eager to get behind the scenes of some of the new big companies that are covered this season.
WHAT do we want to communicate?
Engineering and industry won the war. “The side that can produce more is always going to ultimately triumph over the other side. Even if the other side has more soldiers, better soldiers, braver soldiers, more skillful soldiers”. Emphasize the terrific advancements of industry forced on by the war. Celebrate the genius of engineers and incredible human effort of the workers to keep up with the immense demand.
Keep the focus on the machines – in production and in action. Feature factory workers. Avoid soldiers. If it works include Hitler, Stalin, Churchill, FDR for their role in commissioning the biggest armament programs in history.
Tonally it’s life of death. It should have pace and tension to convey the industrial race between the Allies and the Axis. It should also be proud and celebratory – Britain and the allies producing incredible machines at unbelievable volumes while at war which we know will win the war!
WHY are we doing it?
This is the long awaited third series of one of the most popular shows on the channel. Our core audience never tire of learning new information about WWII and this show perhaps more than any other offers a deep dive into the engineering and industrial side of the war effort, focusing on the machines more than the men, who had such a pivotal impact on settling the war.
