Project brief:
HOOK
The trails of history reveal a wilderness as it has never been seen before.
WHO are we targeting?
Our wider demographic of 25-54 year olds who love wildlife programming; they will be drawn in by the spectacular visuals of vastly different landscapes across Latin America and amazed by the up-close and personal presentation of wildlife and captivated by stories of survival from the largest mammal to the smallest insect.
WHAT do we want to communicate?
Taking the same naming convention as Planet Earth, we’re taking the somewhat unconventional route of giving Wild Canada a proceeding 2, which we feel gives it added importance and recognises to our viewers how much they enjoyed and watched the original series.
Canada – second largest country in the world, and a county of fabulous landscapes from the harsh, hazardous and inhabitable wildernesses and snowy mountain peaks, to the beautiful and inviting plains, lush meadows and flowing rivers. The wild life that inhabit Canada are as tough and rugged as they are breath-taking to observe. But this is not just an observation of Canada’s wonderful wild life, this is a story of how the first Europeans arrived on the Eastern shores of a mysterious ‘new found land; they saw a land of unexplored forests, mountains, plains and oceans filled with creatures they had never seen before: bears, beavers, bison, caribou, wolves and whales. This was pristine nature they were desperate to explore. This four part blue-chip program retraces the footsteps of these pioneers and invites our viewers along for the journey as they explore the new and wonderful Wild Canada.
WHY are we doing it?
This continues the ‘Wild Weekends’ brand for the channel, which acts a great way of attracting and retaining audiences throughout our weekend afternoons. We use this as a means to push our promos for the following week on nature and the portfolio as a whole. We also know our audience love traveling the globe and exploring wild life and exotic animals so we are giving them more of what they love.
