HOOK
February is the month of murder mystery on Viasat History.
WHO are we targeting?
This is a wide group of people as programs investigating murders have an almost universal appeal. The inclusion of Crime in Post War Germany should guarantee we appeal to our loyal and cherished WWII fan base, Cold Case History is an exciting premiere so should attract our casual viewers who are attracted by new, original programming. Although History’s viewership is male dominated, this stunt could have a female skewing element as true-crime murder mysteries have been proven to be more popular with females than males.
WHAT do we want to communicate?
Featuring the Premieres of Crime in Post War Germany and Cold Case History
This is a month of murder throughout the ages and spanning the globe. From Crimes in antiquity to murder mysteries of the middle ages, war murders and deaths of the 20th century that still fascinate the masses of today. No matter how prosperous the period or pleasant the weather, there was never a place that was free of murder. And we’re investigating some of the most shocking, chilling and down right disturbing murders every committed by the most brutal and deplorable people the world has ever known.
As WWII is by far the most popular period on the channel, please give strong focus to our premiere Crime in Post War Germany. So much attention is given to the victory of the war and the subsequent Trial at Nuremberg then annexation that the focus of this show tends to go under the radar, but the reality of Germany in the days after the end of WWII were a lawless, terrifying place to be. We want to emphasize this. However, it is also important to feature the “blockbuster!” murders featured in Cold Case History: Marilyn Monroe, Van Gogh, Medici, King Richard and Ramses, all huge historical figures whose deaths are shrouded in mystery. Really important to namecheck these in the promo.
WHY are we doing it?
This is a stunt focused on some of the most infamous murders, murderers and murder investigations from history. Murder as a subject matter is one of the most popular on the channel and a season devoted to this should be a great ratings driver.
