HOOK
Spend your Sunday evenings in a courtroom immersed in high stakes drama.
WHO are we targeting?
Fans of courtroom dramas, thrillers, high-stakes movies. Movies that skew to an older audience; viewers who remember these being huge in the 90’s, an audience who appreciates dramas that present high-stakes, thrilling scenarios that revolve around murder trials playing out between charismatic lawyers in a courtroom setting.
WHAT do we want to communicate
Establish the courtroom as an integral part of this piece. It is the setting, the arena, the battleground, where lawyers will fight for someone else’s life, freedom and justice. Charismatic, inspired lawyers whose dogged determination and defiance will see them embroiled in cat and mouse, life or death scenarios. These are deeply American dramas, entrenched within their legal system. Underdog stories. Stories about race and adversity. Set in the world of gangsters, drug dealers, corrupt politicians, the Ku Klux Klan. Guns, narcotics, murder.
Namecheck the movies and feature the all-star cast: Sandra Bullock, Samuel L Jackson, Matthew McConaughey, Kevin Spacey, Kiefer Sutherland, Donald Sutherland, John Cusack, Rachel Weisz, Dustin Hoffman, Gene Hackman, Susan Sarandon, Tommy Lee Jones. And of course establish that this is a series of movies adapted from the books of international best selling author John Grisham.
WHY are we doing it?
Grisham is one of the most internationally acclaimed contemporary novelists whose name is synonymous with this genre. He is to Courtroom dramas what Stephen King is to supernatural horrors about alcoholic authors from/living in Maine; and like King his best selling novels have been turned into blockbuster movies, three of which we are presenting here.
