HOOK
Cyril battles the world's most fearsome fish in an epic quest to some of the world's most remote and hostile environments
WHO are we targeting?
Our loyal fishing viewers and beyond that lovers of River Monsters, which remains one of our most popular shows, with repeats even garnering high ratings.
WHAT do we want to communicate?
We continue our adventures with Cyril Chauquet – might be some fun to be had with his last name, as it rhymes with ‘ok’. Or this could be completely redundant depending on the approach we take. Or, as some of the monsters this year as based on monsters straight from horror movies (vampires, cannibals, killer sharks, a devil, a demon) maybe a promo more like a horror film could be novel.
Cyril continues to globe trot in search of the biggest, meanest, scariest and most fabled monsters who lurk in water. This year he’s on the tail of a Cannibal Shark in Florida, a Vampire Fish in the Amazon, a prehistoric beast weighing over 1500ibs. He’s fighting Marlin off the coast of Costa Rica an eight-foot long Tuna off Canada and he’s scanning the Nile for a fish with a mouth so big he can swallow large prey whole.
WHY are we doing it?
Fishing has been a very profitable genre for Explore, with River Monsters and Monster Carp capturing our audiences imagination. They’re accessible shows that garner high ratings, and we need to establish more franchises and fishing personalities on the channel to ensure we get repeat viewers, always eager for new content.
