Viewers wishing to learn about some lesser known and extinct civilisations. They’ll enjoy discovering the perished heritages, cultures, beliefs and accomplishments of these once great peoples, and be shocked and intrigued by their ultimate demise and disappearance.
WHAT do we want to communicate?
How did 6 great civilization get wiped from the face of the earth?
The apocalypse - destruction of civilization as we know it by ourselves or by nature. A concept we associate mostly with science fiction, but we only have to look to our history to realise that this terrifying fiction is based on truth.
Ancient Apocalypse investigates six catastrophic stories of how the world’s greatest civilisations collapsed. How could something so great all but vanish? Why do civilisations collapse? We uncover the scientific reasons why some of history’s most fascinating peoples have disappeared in the face of the natural world’s might. Was it drought, invasion or a curse that brought the downfall of The Akkadian Empire? See how a tsunami removed the City of Helike from the map. The Mayan people mastered mathematics, astronomy and architecture, and yet within a few hundred years had vanished. Was their demise down to them displeasing their vengeful gods or foreign invaders? And did God truly rain down fire and sulphur to smite the wicked who occupied Sodom and Gomorrah?

We believe in offering our viewers a great variety of programming that embraces all cultures and civilisations from our history. This series offers insights into six great, but lesser known civilisations – their cultures, beliefs, achievements and ultimately their demise. It’s part insight, part cautionary tale, into how the mighty can fall.
